Outside Sports Building - retail and office development
36 Shotover Street, or the Outside Sports Building is a five level retail and office development completed in December 2004. It was designed by Buchan Architects and features include an impressive street front design incorporating full floor height window glazing, stacked schist stone walls, full width glass verandah at ground floor with feature verandahs on the upper levels.
Internally the development provides a full height atrium from the lower ground floor to the first floor along the street-front, as well as a central internal stairwell and atrium to facilitate the inter-connecting retail between lower ground, ground and first floors.
The winner of Community and Industrial category of the New Zealand Institute of Architects southern architecture award and the 2006 Retail Property Award of Excellence at the Rider Hunt Property Council Awards it has raised the standard of both retail and office accommodation on Shotover Street.
